Dury is a busy freelance Orchestral Cellist. Based just North of
Bristol, he performs regularly in Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire and
across the UK. During this time he has worked with some of the world's
leading conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Sakari Oramo,
Oliver
Knussen, Stephen Barlow, Sir Barry Wordsworth, Simone Young and Paul

Dury has a particular interest in contemporary music, which began whilst at Birmingham University as a composer/performer, working with members of the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG), and continued at the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies, where he was able to work with Oliver Knussen and members of the London Sinfonietta. Dury has worked with a number of smaller chamber orchestras specialising in performances of contemporary music, including performances of new works at the Aldeburgh Festival.
Whilst at University, Dury was principal cellist of both the University Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, and appeared as the sole cellist in a number of musical productions. At the Birmingham Conservatoire he was principal cellist in the Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia, Thalein and Pelleas Ensembles, and sole cellist in opera productions.
